Great video I've learned a lot. 🤙
I recently bought the plans for the original smaller version. When will plans be available for the big brother???
Polaris has P.E.R.C. Engine fires in reverse... for reference
Awesome work guys! Purchasing plans now...
You start teasing this just as I am trying to make the exact same thing. Haha. And to think I was going to do all the work for the plans. Then I would send it over to you so you could add the plans as a separate folder on the google drive of the JD Garage. Looks like you guys are making a similar size machine to what I am doing. I guess I will just have to beat you to making the JD Garage CNC XXXtraL. That machine will be a minimum 6ftx12ft. I need to build the shed for that one first though. For my current build my minimum cutting area will be 4ftx4ft (the space will actually be a bit bigger to make the frame cuts end on increments of a foot. The y-axis will be supported on both sides along with their own stepper motor. I also am going to use an Arduino Mega because of the extra stepper motor, but maybe I will look into this ESP32 board you are using (might continue this build with the mega and go with the ESP32 for the XXXtraL. 😂) I also wanted to make the connection between the torch carriage and the X axis more secure. I wanted to do this so I could use the machine as a wood routing or drawknife machine. But the current connection from the small machine plans is probably not sufficient to take load. It could be my eyes playing tricks on me, but it looks like you guys modified this connection on the XL that you’re making. If you did make the connection more secure I’m excited to see what you did and if it could take some load of having a router push through wood etc. I look forward to seeing some plans. Please keep up the great work guys.
the app grbl controler doesn't exist in my play store
you need to cad out a full set of dies. 4 or 5 isnt enough for my needs as a chopper frame builder
Can’t wait for the plans on this one too.
I hope it works a lot better than the small one. I put it all together and the arduino will not turn on the plasma cutter. The relay clicks and that’s it. I put it up for sale. My crippled ass has had enough.
It certainly wasn’t the plans. Chances are you had bad components somehow. Too many ppl have had success w these plans for it to be them.
@@antonyparker9291 yeah I agree with this. Genx4 had to do at least something wrong. Unfortunate person that buys the machine from Genx4 and has to troubleshoot what they did wrong
@@antonyparker9291I don’t believe it’s the plans or design at all. It’s either bad parts or my stupidity. Either way I don’t have the funds or ability to keep messing with it.
I have tons of electronics and motors, etc, from building several CNC machines over the last ten years. All I need are the plans!! 👍
I buy tons of my steel from my local scrap yard!! I've got stacks of 1x, 2x, 4x, sheet of many different thicknesses, all for one low scrap metal price!! If you've got a scrap yard near you that allows you to buy scrap from them, check it out, maybe you can pick up on a few deals!!
Hell yeah! Are the plans availabe
i'm interested to see how you dealt with runout between the two sides, i left one side floating, would like to see if there is a better way!
2 x Y motors
@@rhinons7353 i have 2 y motors what im referring to is the runout from the tolerance y beams that creates a variance in width along the axes
Refering to binding from inconsistent distance between rails @@rhinons7353
What’s the creeking and popping noise?
Thats Awesome
Look at that baby! Nice, dude. I'll buy plans for that as soon as they are available. The other plans were Excellent.
Well done! It looks great and professional! Regards! ✌🏻
This looks like a medium/small plasma table. Most big sheet metal shops run 40 footers
for them, from their original build, this is an XL
Great stuff as always guys
You're using ESP32 now? Nice!! I have been very interested in building one of your plasma tables but haven't pulled the trigger yet
you cant post this and not give more context. like what are your plans with this project?
Please tell me there are plans for this
Hello GD great video in Germany I can buy electric galvanized tube for the y and x achsis what do you think about this idear 🧐🧐
If you want a really cool look, looking into case harding.
I sat here all morning and waited for the THC to go on sale. I made the mistake of walking away for a few minutes and when I came back they were SOLD OUT! UGH!!! Can you PLEASE offer the schematics for purchase for those of us that can build from schematics?? Pretty Please!!!
Would you be willing to build a die and sell it? I don’t have access to a 3d printer or Cnc plasma
0:19 nice
how big is it, have mine made 90x70
Would cerakote work? Or too similar to paint?
This is super budget friendly
Great I have weak internet in shop. Thx
I have your plans, and am collecting bits and pieces. I am also going to print the bearing blocks, and then use that as a pattern to cast them in aluminum. But molding and casting will involve a small percentage of shrinking compared to the original. Are there drawing with dimensions for the bearing blocks? I could print it and then make detailed measurements and reverse engineer all the critical dimensions. But it would be a fair amount of work, so I thought I would ask first.
What do you think about Electro galvanizing? Anyone tried?
Nice!
Anyone else have issues with 1/4-20 tap busting through the side of the bearing block? On the real thin side.
What plasma cutter are you using in the video?
The link for the new code to put into IDE is not pulling up the correct page. can you fix the link??
Do you provide the drawings in mm and cm as well?
Good job, it came out well. We shared this video on our homemade tool forum last week 😎
Hey guys! I just got all of my electronics and such. Is there a video for how you wired up this sucker? i'm not very well versed in wiring things from scratch. I dont want to botch this project lol. I'd like to replicate how you have it.
My arduino gets disconnected every time the plasma fires. Just says error 31 on open builds. Can’t seem to figure it out.
I have yet to get the firmware flasher to work on any of my Arduinos. I had to flash it with IDE.
with the torch height capabilities, any future in which this gets outfitted with a Router to cut wood too?
Just purchased the plans. How can long does it take to receive them by mail?
you don't face problems using the Arduino board
Good job .I did built my own CNC plasma cutter using cheap chinese laser cutter frame.
Please use a blade guard on that angle grinder and a face shield. Ive had one break on me and roll off my cheek. I got very lucky lol
Is there a reason you can't just use off-the-shelf 3/8 ID x 4" ABS or aluminum spacers with washers under the head of the bolt and under the nut on the other side of the connection? Or maybe the spacer is 3.90" so the connection can compress just a bit. The stainless water pan from Vevor for $65 works fine - just need to make the X axis 2" longer (40" instead of 38").
Every time my plasma cutter lights to start the cut the arduino disconnects from open builds. Plasma just stays on and doesn’t move. Any idea what could be causing this?
You must have , High Frequency Arc start on you cutter, or Chinese fake Non High Frequency Start .In this case , you have ground frame of the machine and the cutter , put electronic in metal enclosure and also ground it, and keep as far away from cutter and torch as possible, use also shielded cables all arround . Also dont use USB , connect to grbl remotelly via bluetooth . After all this You still may have occasional hickups ruining Your jobs. Also warning ground I mean electrical earthing /bonding NOT plasma cutter work clamp !! As it is positive-but commonly called ground clamp.
FWIW, when I welded the flat bar to the top of the gantry, along the "front" side, it bent the flat bar down due to shrinkage. In my case, that would have potentially allowed for the gantry bar to sit low towards the front. I had to bend the bar back prior to welding in the angle piece underneath and all was good. I also did paint leaving channels for the bearings to travel
